For those of you who follow me on my Instagram know that I have restarted running and currently on a 5 week streak every Monday. While I know that I have restarted it for the 100th time!
It all started in the month of October with me doing things outside my comfort zone, which included going to events, meeting new people, trying different workshops and joining my first ever group run.
Sports is an area that got introduced to my life in my late 20s. I was a thin child and a slim adolescent and this health kick wasn’t so out there at that time. So, my extracurriculars would always be debating, classical dancing and writing competitions. I would almost always sit out my physical exercise lessons or fool around. I hated the sun, sweating, competing and breathing too hard ( that was sports for me).
I have always taken up running for the wrong reasons, honestly it looks way cooler than walking (which I enjoy doing any day). But that Monday last October when I did go for that run and it turned out to be a decent experience and I was able to run 5.5 km without stopping while chit chatting with a new running buddy. It made me really wonder about what my body was capable of. I instantly recorded that experience in a reel which I loved watching as a mark of me happily getting out of my comfort zone.
Since I always try new things I remember one core principle to get anything rolling is to reduce the friction. In case of the run club it was the travel time which felt unnecessary. So I dared to run the same distance alone in my area. I usually use a running app. And the plan I am on, is a walk run plan. But I chose not to stop and continue running the distance. This made me wonder what had changed. Why didn’t I stop? How come I ran 6km by myself? Was it because I was recording myself running with the intention of making a video later.
After I was done bashing myself for being shallow, I picked by the book ‘Four Tendencies’ by
. This book talks how we can be classified as :I am very judgemental and analytical of my behavior which is what makes me interested in psychology and related topics. The closest people to me fall in such opposite categories which I feel at times is a boon and a bane for them. I had to take the quiz to get the report on my tendency type as well. It's a lot of fun to know this about yourself and the people around you. Given the situation above, can you take a wild guess which category I fall into?
If you would like to find out which one is your tendency you can take the quiz here Take the quiz here .
Comment below what you found and I will discuss them in the next article along with my result of the quiz!
Ha! I'm an Obliger. Which I already knew. Got to get out of those bad habits PDQ!
Keep up the running. I can't, never could, so I walk and/or practice yoga. Becomes more important the older we get!
