Oh thank you so much Nirit! If u like something in particular, just say the word, will send it to u β€οΈ. I have enjoyed your articles and videos so much, this would be a token of thank youβ¨
So glad i stumbled upon your work! Sketchnoting looks fun and Iβm amazed by your talent! I love that youβre not afraid to pivot and try new mediums
Thatβs so kind of you to sayπ€βΊοΈ. So glad you enjoyed them. I think staying true to your creativity irrespective of the medium is the best gift we can give ourselves β€οΈ. You already know I love ur work! And Iβll never forget that like of yours - just because I can doesnβt mean I want to!
Wow sketchnoting looks awesome to me, super non-threatening and quite in line with my stylistic preferences.
That being said, I would hang your abstract paintings at my place! I think itβs generally just wild to say otherwise to an artistβs face. I still remember when people from my close circle said they wouldnβt listen to the song I wrote - the doubt is so difficult to get rid of after. That being said, those paintings are amazing!
Hey!! Thank you so much! You are so kind and generous with your words. I appreciate you so much!
I am so happy that u enjoyed sketchnoting! Part 3 comes out this Monday! Be sure not to miss it , I already know u will like it.
Whereabouts do u live? Iβll send u oneπ€β¨πΈ. Itβs just that people want to hid away the things that make them reflect .
This mental health series that looks a bit visceral is a reflection of how we want to perceive life. Only put out the pretty face on the outside to make ourselves look put together , thereby ignoring reality and staying lonely forever!
Oh now I wish I had a bigger place :) Iβm in Berlin!
Yeah the pretty face approach is not for me. My newsletter is called βFear of Musicβ for a reason, I go on and on about the struggle of feeling at peace with yourself when pursuing creative endeavors as well so I stand behind your attitude :)
Thank you so Geetika! Thatβs so kind of you and I am so happy that you enjoyed the post! You know sketchnoting would be a great way to simplify Ayurveda concepts for the larger audience! Makes it more accessible to amplify your causeπ€β¨. Thanks for the subπΈβ¨
woohoo!! So beautiful, youβre so talented, Urmila!! Youβve tried a lot of many mediums! Happy to see the workshop image here, weβve just talked about it today!! Youβre definitely put onto this earth to give wings to creativity and intentional living for people out there! Keep inspiring, and winning yooo!! π
Awww thank you so much!! Haha yea. I wish thatβs my purpose too. Sometimes it gets so muddled up but the heart knows what it wants. Thanks so much for our conversation today and so happy to have you cheering onπ€β¨
Hi Urmila, a fantastic post yet again and I simply enjoyed reading through and even more,I enjoyed how you paired pictures with your text. Every single medium that youβve explored seems like a good take away for anyone who is trying to invest their time and energy into art and sketching, so far seems like the most easiest thing to start with minimal art supplies , minimal skill or even better, no skill at all is sketch-noting!! what I like, even better is this option where I can just write and have these cute illustrations to accompany and be done with it! I absolutely adore the way you expressed yourself through different mediums and have tried different art forms and have even tried exhibiting them. Iβm sure that must have been a different experience on its own.πΈ
Thank you so much Madhu for the way you show up in the comments. I really appreciate your presence here.
Each medium represents a phase of my life and has taught me some valuable life lesson and made it worth my while with the recognitions it brought me. Not as an ego boost but more for showing me that the impact or difference I can make as an artist. Something very undervalued as per our conditioning.
But sketchnoting was something just for me, just for my creativity . Itβs beautiful that many resonated and I am able to share something that comes instinctively to me.
Hope I can distill and simplify it for all those who want to try itπ€β¨
I wish every creative person has a Eugene in their corner. Thank so much for enjoying the article and the video! Canβt wait to share the third part. Would love to see u try it as wellπ
Unlike written content where we share our mind art is an expression of our innermost person - our identity - there is no hiding with the art - it is like putting our feelings on display and some people come along and squeeze them and hurt them
Art makes us vulnerable and it can be easier to give people a version of life that we assume they want rather than what we really love.
I hope that sketching brings you full circle to sharing the art of your heart
This line right here - βSketching helped me feel seen in a place like Hong Kong, where being a brown woman made integration tough.β
That right there is the intersection of art and identity. Too often, we think of creativity as something aesthetic or skill based, but what youβve shown here is how it becomes a lifeline.
Like a means to belong to ourselves when the world hasnβt made space for us.
I am enjoying your sharing of how you came to practice sketchnoting, and the ways your creativity flourishes through that. I have shared this with a colleague who also enjoys making zines, and she's following along now, too. Looking forward to #3 next week. Glad you're continuing to find your flow.
Fab post - I love the mini kit! I always travel with a small sketch book and pencils and a small watercolour palette. But this is even more stealth - just a few pens. Going to give it a go on my next trip. By the way, Urmila - I love all the different artistic styles and media you have showcased here.
Your work is beautiful! I'd absolutely hang it at my house.
Oh thank you so much Nirit! If u like something in particular, just say the word, will send it to u β€οΈ. I have enjoyed your articles and videos so much, this would be a token of thank youβ¨
I just realized you're from Kerala? I have a dear family friend there.
Wow! Where about? What a small worldπ₯Ήπ₯Ήπ₯Ή. From Kerala but living in Hk πΈ

I will be looking out for pt. 3!
Aah lovely knowing that! When u have a place of your choice hit me up, Iβll send u something u will love to hang upπ€β¨
Wow Urmila, what a great talent you are. Really enjoyed this post. Can wait to read more. I just subscribed π

Such a fabulous idea! I have no art /sketching talent at all. Maybe we could collaborate somehow π. Is there something I could help you with?
Sounds like a plan! Maybe I do some for an article of Ures? And u feed me Ayurvedic food if I come to NY? πβ¨
Done! And Iβll read your sketch/noting posts carefully to see if I can give it a try even without artistic talents. Youβve inspired me π
Beautiful art! I can see the passion and life in those pieces β€οΈ
Thanks so much Astrid! Means so much coming from you π€β¨

Thank you for the kind mention, Urmila! βΊοΈ
Iβm really enjoying your story and looking at your sketchnotes with curiosity.
Your Thailand video on YouTube is so simple and clear - a great reminder that we donβt need much to begin creating.
Just a small pouch of markers and a notebook can be enough to get started.
Looking forward to Part 3 with interest! π€

That means a lot, Urmila - thank you for your kind words! π€
Your energy and creativity are truly inspiring, and itβs a joy to follow your journey π«
Letβs seeβ¦ maybe one day I will give sketchnoting a try.
Who knows what a notebook and a few markers might spark? π
Looking forward to part 3 already!
Truly inspiring, Urmila! Just wondering if sketchnotes and illustrated journal are the same!
Thanks John! They are close cousins for sure.

Absolutely David, what beautiful way to put it. I am sure you relate to it as you are also an artist. I hope so too Davidπ
